Hi! My name is Megan Welker. I am a mom of four and wife to a wonderful husband who supports my creative side. I received my BA from BYU-I in art and education in 2009. I have currently turned my garage into a studio where I escape to create as often as I’m able. I am illustrating my first book and I have been watercoloring for about two years. I have found an absolute love for it. I currently live in Tucson Arizona. I was born in Utah, raised in California and have lived in Florida, Idaho, and wouldn’t mind living in Hawaii someday. Art for me is a way to create feelings, emotions, and expressions to share with others. The desert is a beautiful place. Wild poppies grow and desert cacti bloom. The night sky shines brightly due to an ordinance to keep light traffic down here in Tucson. It is absolutely gorgeous here. Especially in the springtime. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into desert life here in AZ. I’d love to meet you and say hello, you can find me on Instagram at “ahintofpixiedustpaints”

Verdure in Spring (1 of 2 diptych)
Acrylic on paneled cradle board

SOLD
There is a midpoint between two small Utah towns which remains the most sublime and beautiful landscapes these eyes have ever seen. This area was once owned by my father’s family, and one of my most treasured and sacred places.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
My interest in painting began in San Juan County, Utah, where I was born and raised, where ancient petroglyphs and pictographs dot red rocks, where a stunning image of a horsehead can be found, painted with the lights and darks of quakies and pines—brushes from the original Artist’s palette. A land where the first natives, Spanish shepherds, cowboys and pioneers figured out how to get along (some of the time) and left their own records in words and in colors—turquoise, reds, browns and greens. I have loved to paint since I was a little girl, but it never gave me any more childlike joy then, than it gives me now, to imitate God’s own work here on earth.

41. Charlotte Condie
Fresh Till
Digital Watercolor
4 x 8 inches
SOLD
This is a landscape in southern Illinois, like many in the Midwest and upper South region with large skies and miles upon miles of planting fields. The spring is when all the cash crop fields are freshly tilled over for the first plant. When you drive past at high speeds it’s hard not to get lost in all the straight rows cut into the soil by the tractors. You can only guess what is in the fields until about July when it becomes clear whether it’s corn, soy, or wheat.

Charlotte Condie is an artist in Atlanta, GA where she sells art to local markets and occasionally online. She has a background in chalk pastel mural competitions, lino printing, watercolor, and digital art. She currently is building a body of digital work for a new line of wholesale and online retail. She enjoys exploring both local/Southern and spiritual/religious subjects in her art.

This is an image of some of the grain fields in spring in Historic Nauvoo, IL, banking the Mississippi River. The storm clipped up quickly and made quite a statement with a dark wall of water that eventually washed over the whole town. The storms begin and end quickly and are a welcome change to the warm humid air that builds over the growing season.

Mathematics has always been synonymous to art in the way proportions, depth, and balance play a role in art making. My art journey began with sketch art, which then evolved into experimenting with mediums such as acrylic, oil and watercolor. Inspired by Money, Friedrich and Cezanne, I enjoy translating the beauty found in nature onto paper and canvas. Her passion for growth in her art never ceases. “I simply want to make better paintings every day.” Allie currently resides with her husband and young children in Meridian, ID.

76. Brekke Sjoblom
Greater Perspective
Watercolor on watercolor ground on cradled panel
5 x 5 inches
$120
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Growing up in Utah, with its majestic mountains, stark deserts and everything in between, these landscapes are the backdrops of my memories as a child and now with my own family. Both on foot and with paint, I love exploring what is just outside my door. Using the patterns, shapes and textures that I see, I try to capture a moment in time of a landscape, rather than trying to exactly reproduce the scene.
Working with watercolors is a soothing and meditative process, but as a mother of three, interruptions can happen often. The result is that I build layers on layers with watercolor, allowing me to step away and be present with my family and then return to create an even more vivid landscape.
Creativity and art have fueled much of my life, including obtaining a BFA from the University of Utah, but I am just beginning my art career.

77. Michael Shaw
Desert Springs
Oil paint on panel
4 x 8 inches
$120
In a desert spring there may not be tulips blooming or rain falling, rather there may be bushes full of yellow and cactus with an everlasting green. Yes, a desert spring may look different than one here in Utah, yet the majesty and beauty of it is still there. Beauty is everywhere, not just where you think you will find it.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I grew up in Arizona and am currently attending BYU in their accounting program. I have had an interest in art for some time. About a year and a half ago my wife, as a birthday present, gave me my first painting supplies. I believe that gift to be one of the most influential and impactful gifts I have received. Since then I have been trying my best to learn and grow in the art of painting. I look forward to seeing how my career in business and love for painting can work together.

A Poppy Sanctuary
Oil paint on panel
4 x 8 inches
SOLD
Nature is a wonderful thing and finds ways of sharing beauty with us. Last spring my wife and I visited this field of poppy flowers which captivated us. The poppy field is located in the middle of a suburban development, yet still finds ways to flourish and draw people in. This painting does not include the surrounding houses and busy roads as a way to show that even in the middle of this crazy life we can find places of beauty and sanctuary.

Light illuminates even what cannot be perceived clearly. A clever trick of sun and shadow and distance creates hazy intrigue.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Instead of bemoaning my imminent 50th birthday this summer, I am planning a celebratory art show featuring 50 selected paintings…and cake. It is a daunting project, but a very good distraction. My introvert’s reason whispers that I should run and hide from this self-imposed exposure, but the hard earned wisdom of the years tells me to embrace living bravely.
After living 46 years in beautiful Northern California, immersed in various artistic pursuits, raising four children, and spending as much time as possible in the glorious green foothills, I was relocated to Idaho. With nowhere to plug in my kiln, I knew what I had to do. I finally began to learn how to paint.
As I did, I began to see beauty in places I did not think it existed. I began to look at the bare, pale hills and wonder how I would mix their color. I began seeing gorgeous pastel hues in the winter landscape. I found camaraderie in the local and online arts communities. I participated in shows and won some awards. I began to feel a truer, braver version of myself when I painted. My high school art teacher, who was annoyed with me for choosing BYU over art school, would be nodding in approval. Perhaps I should invite him to my birthday party.

I’m now a multidisciplinary artist. I have continued exploring different mediums on their own or even mixed media. Sacred Trees: Damvillers, Home of Bastien-Lepage
Oil on Panel
19.25 x 12 inches
$3,470
I admired these trees during a pilgrimage to the hometown of artist Jules Bastien-Lepage. I wanted to place myself as close as possible to the garden he painted in his depiction of Joan of Arc. The church steeple on the left appears in his painting Rural Love. To view the country landscape, the wood mill, the atmospheric hills that Bastien-Lepage loved so much was a sacred experience for me. He died at the age of 36. I wonder what masterpieces we would have if he had lived longer.

Sacred Trees: Woodland Hills, Utah
Oil on Panel

I walk past this crab apple by my front steps nearly every day. When it blooms in the spring, the brilliant pink blossoms fill the air with perfume and the buzz of pollinating insects. It’s sacred to me because it represents home–where I experience the triumphs, laughter and tears of family life.
